Posting on Instagram, he said that the brand has run its course and pointed to the “un-planet-positive” footwear industry as a reason for his departure.
The designer said: “Over the past year, I’ve been focusing my energies on developing next-generation green manufacturing and material technologies for footwear which, if successful, I’ll incorporate into a totally new concept for a brand which in turn I hope will go some way towards a carbon neutral future.”
Nicholas Kirkwood was launched in 2005 and caught the eye of LVMH in 2013 when the conglomerate purchased a stake in the brand. However, the two parted ways in 2020 when LVMH sold its shares.
