Released by the Footwear Industry Chamber (CIC), the data showed that production was up by 3% in the first seven months of 2023 as a whole.

Overall manufacturing production in Argentina, however, was down by 3.9% year-on-year in July and up by just 0.5% in the year so far.

The Argentine Confederation of Medium-Sized Companies (CAME) also revealed that retail sales for footwear and leather goods were up by 0.8% in August 2023, while remaining flat in the year so far.

The organisation said: “There were few deliveries of merchandise from suppliers and stores went out to liquidate products early to obtain liquidity.”
