The Congress organisers say that a total of ninety-five abstracts were received during the call for papers, with China, India, Italy, Mexico, Portugal and Spain as the most represented countries, hence, revealing “the increasing interest of the footwear industry for the UITIC Congress.” The last UITIC Congress in Chennai, India, saw 13 papers submitted.

The proposals will now be evaluated by the Scientific Committee and the results are expected to be communicated by the end of February. A selection of 25 to 30 speeches will be delivered during the Congress covering topics such as new products and services linked to the consumers’ needs; intelligent development and manufacturing: towards a technological revolution; sustainability, supply chain transparency and regulatory trends impacting on factories; human-centred factories and new way of management.

The 20th edition of the UITIC Congress is organised by APICCAPS (the Portuguese Footwear, Components, Leather Goods Manufacturers Association) and CTCP (Portuguese Footwear Technological Centre).
