Under the heading of “Leather up to date” delegates will hear presentations from around 20 speakers over two days and for the first time, there will also be a panel discussion featuring leading technical experts from academia, technical bodies, tanners and leather chemical makers during the afternoon session on July 2.

The first part of the conference will focus on the environmental aspects of leather making, which will include updates of chrome-free tanning technologies as well as the use of bioenergy in tanneries. The second day will see a focus on new chemical technology in leather making and presentations will be a made by a number of leading leather chemical producers and technical organisations.

The VGCT are co-organising the 3rd Leather Days conference with the leather technical institute and tanning school FILK who are based in Freiberg. Delegates will be given an opportunity to visit the FILK facilities after the conference as well as attend a social event in a local brew house.
