Don Ohsman grew up in the family hide and fur business, Ohsman and Sons. After earning his Bachelor degree at the University of Denver and serving in the Army in the early 1960’s, he later formed his own hide trading business; Trans World Hide Corporation in 1979 and began writing weekly hide reports. In 1997, he sold the business to automotive leather specialists, Seton Leather, and changed the name of his market report business to Eventually, he left Seton to focus on Hidenet Publications, which will now carry on Don’s legacy in the hands of Vera Dordick, the new Editor-in-Chief.

Ohsman, 78, died of complications of a rare form of blood cancer, multiple myeloma. He was a well-known figure in the leather industry for many years and a regular speaker at industry events.
