ISA TanTec, who have world-class leather manufacturing facilities in China, Vietnam, USA and Italy, recently announced the construction of a second plant in Vietnam. The Group provides leather and cut leather parts to some of the world’s leading global footwear and apparel brands using its LITE Leather concept.

LITE Leather (Low Impact to the Environment) was first introduced by the company in 2003 and during his presentation at the Jumeirah Himalayas hotel in Pudong on August 28, Schneider will demonstrate how ISA TanTec have dramatically reduced the amount energy, water and resources its uses in all its production processes. By constantly reducing its environmental footprint and also saving money, ISA TanTec today are one of the leading leather makers using renewable energy sources and water and waste recycling systems. “Too long have industries viewed green initiatives as “money-killers”, the LITE concept is here to change this view,” Thomas Schneider will explain during the conference.

Complimenting the overall theme of the conference. Thomas Schneider, who is widely regarded as one of the leading visionary global tanners by his peers, will, in the second part of his presentation, look into the future for the global leather making industry analysing some of its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT), and looking ahead to the years leading up to 2030 and beyond.

Developing the LITE concept further he will address where future tanneries will be built and what they may look like, what kinds of technologies could be installed and what or where materials should be used to make leather in the future.
