Reportedly, the fine came about because Amazon had negatively impacted competitors by only giving the “Prime” label to companies which used its in-house delivery service, while other logistics companies could not offer the same benefits to customers.

Amazon has said it will appeal the decision, calling it “unjustified and disproportionate”. The regulator said: “Amazon harmed competing e-commerce logistics operators, preventing them from presenting themselves to online sellers as providers of services of comparable quality to Amazon’s.”
