The prestigious grant is to be awarded to a young scientist aged under 35 for a leather research project conducted at a recognised institution. Financially supported by Lear Corporation, the objective is to encourage new scientists to develop the chemistry, science and technology of leather. The €1,500 award is to be paid as a single sum to the young leather scientist that submits the winning project proposal.

The applicant age limit has been increased to 35 years so that young scientists starting a career with PhDs and Post Doctorate qualifications have an opportunity to apply.

The award will be administered by the International Union Research Commission (IUR), currently led by Dr Luis Zugno. The independent Selection Committee is headed by Dr Michael Meyer.

For eligibility requirements and application, please consult Submission deadline: October 31, 2017.

In 2016, Santiago Ortiz-Monsalve from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, LACOURO, Brazil, was the third recipient of the award. Read more here.
