In an official company release, the luxury vehicle manufacturer said it plans to offer greater choice across its Range Rover, Defender and Discovery brands, with vehicles available with mild hybrid, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery-electric powertrains. Jaguar, meanwhile, will become JLR’s uniquely electric brand.
JLR said it is preparing to launch five new products over the next two years, including Range Rover Electric, Range Rover Sport Electric and Jaguar Type 01, alongside further Range Rover and Defender models on its Electrified Modular Architecture.
The company is also targeting £1.7 billion (US$2.28 billion) in cost savings over the next two years, with the aim of reducing its break-even volume towards 300,000 vehicles. Savings are expected to come from material, warranty and fixed costs.
North America will be a particular focus, with JLR identifying the U.S. as a priority growth region and exploring new Defender products tailored to the market through its collaboration with Stellantis.
JLR also reaffirmed its five-year commitment to invest £18 billion (US$24.10 billion) in future technologies, vehicle platforms and transformation through FY29.
JLR to cut around 4,000 roles
In addition to the cost savings described in the release, Reuters has also reported that the company plans to reduce its global workforce by around 4,000 roles over the next two years, representing nearly 10% of its approximately 43,000 employees. The cuts will be carried out through voluntary redundancies and are expected to focus on salaried and management positions rather than direct manufacturing roles.
