A farm based in South Kazakhstan is to start exporting Karakul sheepskins in to Italy, according to local media. The farm located in the rural area of Bayırkum, Arys district, breeds Karakul sheep and currently has a herd of around 2,000 sheep.

Following an agreement to export sheepskins to Italy, Baiyrkum-Agro farm says it plans to increase the number of sheep to 20,000 by the end of 2017. Another two farms in the region, specialised in the breeding of Karakul, Kumkent and Karakur sheep, are said to have started exports to the United Arab Emirates.
