The company said in its April 16 Capital Markets Day that it will focus on reinforcing creativity and craftsmanship while investing in technology, new markets and evolving consumer expectations. The strategy is intended to restore sustainable growth and reinforce the group’s position in global luxury. Following an extended focus on leather goods, Luca de Meo indicated that Kering plans to broaden its material mix, placing greater emphasis on so-called “next-generation” alternatives in place of leather. It has been reported elsewhere that, by 2028, the group’s brands are expected to cut their use of leather by around 30%, while increasing the share of alternative materials to roughly 40%. How the company will balance this shift with maintaining the perception of quality, historically tied to natural leather, remains uncertain.
Two days before the Capital Markets Day, Kering reported first-quarter 2026 revenue of €3.57 billion, broadly stable on a comparable basis. The group said performance reflected a continued focus on execution, with wholesale activity improving and jewellery showing strong momentum.
Kering also confirmed progress on portfolio and asset management, announcing an agreement relating to a prime real estate property in Milan. The move forms part of broader efforts to optimise its asset base.
Alongside its strategic reset, the group disclosed a minority investment in Chinese fashion brand ICICLE, establishing a partnership aimed at supporting the brand’s international development.
Separately, Kering announced changes to its Board of Directors. They company confirmed the co-optation of Jean‑Paul Agon as an Independent Director, replacing Baudouin Prot following his departure from the Board. The group also detailed changes to committee memberships, with Jean-Paul Agon joining the Appointments and Governance Committee, while Tidjane Thiam continues to serve as Lead Independent Director and a member of key committees. Kering said these adjustments are intended to maintain a high level of independence and reinforce the Board’s expertise in line with the group’s strategic priorities.
Across the recent updates, the company emphasised execution discipline, organisational efficiency and investment in future growth drivers as it implements its revised strategic roadmap.
