The two-day conference will also host discussions on the perception and reality of the leather industry, and the good initiatives carried out to improve sustainability, with input from the audience.
During its meeting in September, the GLCC, which is comprised of representatives from the International Council of Tanners (ICT), the International Council of Hide, Skins and Leather Traders Associations (ICHSLTA), and the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS), discussed the demands from consumers, leather users and brands on traceability, environmental standards and chemical management. As reported by ILM, it was agreed that the whole leather industry must improve in providing the necessary resources to educate brands, consumers and the general public about the qualities and benefits of leather.
