The Leather and Hide Council of America (LHCA), International Council of Tanners and Leather Naturally have joined forces for this effort, reaching out to companies across the leather supply chain for support.

The document includes calls for those at the summit to recognise the potential for leather’s positive contribution to environmental efforts and encourage its use due to its longevity and as an alternative to fossil fuel-based materials, as well as other calls to action.

The organisations are sending out the COP26 Leather Manifesto to companies across the leather industry and partner sectors with the intention of releasing the document just before the summit along with a full list of supporting signatories.
