Michael Costello is Stahl’s Director of Sustainability since October 2015. He and Stahl strongly believe in taking a leading role in achieving a more transparent and sustainable supply chain by stimulating cooperation between its stakeholders.

Costello’s presentation will discuss the system that is available to capture the environmental impact of leather. Using Life Cycle Analysis methodology and the Product Category Rules (PEFCR) launched by the European Commission, this cradle to gate approach can quantify leather production data and report the environmental impact on global warming, acidification, ozone depletion, resource depletion and eutrophication of the leather manufacturing process. The presentation will summarise how the methodology works and the importance of the output data in the final Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).
