Deborah Taylor will focus on the way LWG supports brands and retailers in demonstrating responsible sourcing and production of leather. Following a brief overview of the work of the LWG, she will discuss developments in traceability with a focus on the trader assessment protocol and how that connects to the main environmental audit protocol for tanneries. Deborah will finish her presentation with an outline of how LWG members are benefitting from the work of the LWG Animal Welfare sub-group. The sub-group is primarily a brand led, self-funded group with an objective of providing education and information around the salient issues surrounding animal welfare, to enable brands and retailers to make better informed sourcing decisions.
