LWG Traceability Manager Vanessa Brain will speak on how traceability is a critical tool to achieving sustainability within leather production, and challenging issues related to ensuring animal welfare and tackling deforestation hinge upon the ability of the leather industry to understand the origin of its material.
She will present the LWG’s traceability roadmap and plans for a mechanism to deliver transparency, along with tangible actions automotive brands and OEMs can take to address deforestation through due diligence activities.
About the speaker
Vanessa Brain joined the LWG as the Traceability Project Manager in 2021 and is responsible for managing the LWG’s work on the traceability of leather, including developing the chain of custody and deforestation due diligence requirements.
She has over 20 years of commercial fashion and sustainability experience gained through working for organisations including the Fairtrade Foundation, Control Union and Historic Futures. Brain is a specialist in sustainable materials, global sourcing, certification and traceability systems.
