Marfrig is reported to have reached an agreement to buy 100% of the shares of Argentinian meat patties producer Campo del Tesoro for US$4.6 million. The latter is a leader in the production of hamburgers for food services in Argentina.
Campo del Tesoro has a plant in Pilar, Buenos Aires province, with a processing capacity of 15,000 tonnes per year, serving mainly large global food service companies. In Argentina, Marfrig has a total capacity to produce 54,000 tonnes of hamburgers, with the Paty and Gook Mark brands serving international markets. “We see the acquisition, although relatively small, as positive, as it consolidates Marfrig’s leadership in the Argentine hamburger market and strengthens its portfolio with value-added products”, said Marfrig.
