The conference takes place the day before the start of the All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE) and will feature key industry speakers from leading OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, leading auto leather tanners, suppliers and technical institutes related to the automotive leather supply chain. There will also be a strong focus on the market in China.
According to a market report published in 2014, global automotive leather use is anticipated to grow around 10.5% by 2018. By 2020, China is expected to be the largest purchaser of cars, buying approximately 3 million units per annum (the figure was 1.3 million in 2012). Chinese consumers specify leather interiors for around 50% of all new cars sold, compared with a figure of around 19% in Europe. Demand is also expected to increase for cars for the U.S market, from 1.7 million units in 2012 to 2.3 million by 2020. The conference will be an opportunity to find out more about the latest trends in the leather industry’s fastest growing segment.
This year’s conference was formally launched at the APLF in Hong Kong and during the subsequent weeks ILM will announce the speaker programme and topics covering the entire Automotive Leather Supply Chain.
A new feature for the 2015 conference will be a discussion panel among the speakers representing various elements of the chain, which will be moderated by ILM Content Director, Martin Ricker. The audience will be invited to put forward questions to stimulate discussion and debate during the event.
The conference is sponsored by TFL and Trumpler is the refreshment sponsor.
