Mercedes-Benz says it increased its unit sales by a double-digit rate once again in May, selling a total of 193,741 vehicles worldwide (+13.5%). Since the beginning of 2017, a total of 934,965 cars were delivered worldwide.

In Germany, 27,413 units were delivered in May 2017 (+17.4%), while the UK, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden, Poland and Norway also recorded new best sales figures in the month, with some exceeding 25% growth rates according to the manufacturer. In the Asia-Pacific region, 72,095 vehicles were delivered (+25.5%), with China greatly contributing to the success; 50,015 units were sold in the country, up +32.2% year-on-year. New sales records were also reported in South Korea, Australia, Taiwan and India.

Demand for the A- and B-Class, the CLA, CLA Shooting Brake and the GLA is said to continue to be strong as well as for the E-Class Saloon and Estate, whose sales increased 75.4% to 30,866 units, a new high for a May. Sales of the Estate almost doubled compared with the prior year month, while sales of the coupés, cabriolets and roadsters were up +30.7% in May to 14,945 units. The bestsellers were the C-Class Coupé and C-Class Cabriolet. The S-Class Cabriolet recorded especially strong growth, while the new E-Class Cabriolet will be launched in late summer.
