Cuir A Paris will be breaking all the records again next week with its 25th edition taking place in the Villpinte Nord exhibition centre from September 17-19.
The show has moved to Hall 3, Modamont’s former home, to satisfy the demand for larger stand space from exhibitors. 445 exhibitors from 25 countries have confirmed their presence, including 43 exhibiting at the show for the first time. This represents +8% in numbers and +23% in surface area compared with September 2012. Among the regular exhibitors, the Italian contingent takes 53% of the exhibition space, followed by French (16%) and Spanish (9%) companies. Other European countries make up 14% of exhibitors and overseas export destinations represent a further 8%, with the presence of two new countries, Russia and South Korea. Among new exhibitors, the Spanish company and split leather maker Vidal Bosch, the French furrier Philippe Beaulieu, the Italian manufacturers of heels and soles, Tacchifficio Monti and Italsform, and the famous Dutch leather chemicals firm Stahl, which specialises in leather finishes.
New visual identity
Building on this momentum, Cuir a Paris show organisers SIC Group has revamped its visual identity and website.
The overhaul kicked off in February 2013 with the introduction of new stands and has continued with the creation of a new logo and a new emblem that can be used in an infinite variety of forms. The new media campaign is centred on the show’s core themes, with a ‘materials‘ visual illustrating the heart of the activity and an elegant typeface in keeping with its luxury position. A major priority for Cuir a Paris is to forge links between its exhibitors and visitors throughout the year.
The new website, which has just gone live, sets the tone, showcasing colours, inspirations, innovations – with plenty of room for exhibitor trends and materials. Favourites can be shared on the social networks! Another new feature is the dedicated media zone, which offers the possibility to download content on request.
The Winter 14-15 season is also focused on the theme of ‘Matière Première‘ – raw materials.
Four themes will be developed in the trend book for Winter 14-15 along with the colours that accompany them. The Trends Gallery has been designed like a fun maze, where we move from one letter to another, from one theme to another, zigzagging around deliberately rickety structures.
The Incube forum will be located at the heart of an enhanced range of chemical products. Designed for trend-setters, the forum selects the latest technical innovations to inspire unusual creative directions.
Forming a link between industry and craftsmanship, the Bespoke area will host ten companies with specific know-how in the leather and fur sectors, including four exhibiting here for the first time: Atelier Marion Chopineau, specialising in the carving of motifs on fur, the Jean Rousseau production unit, which makes small leather goods from exotic leathers, the Swiss designer, Silvia Cabalzar, who develops interior decoration elements and Ekceli, a company that embroiders on leather and fur.
Creation will also be in the spotlight with Intérieurs Cuir, a collective operation to promote French leathers, launched by the French Tanners and Dressers Association in partnership with 15 tanners. For its third edition, Intérieurs Cuir has organised a national competition with seven French design and architecture schools on the theme of ‘Cuir Décontexté‘ (Decontextualised leather). The winning works will be presented in the entrance to the show.
Another support programme for creation that will be present at the
show is ADC (au-delà du cuir), which was put in place by the French Footwear Association with the support of the National Leather Council and CTC (The Professional Committee for the Economic Development of Leather, Footwear and Leather Goods.) The aim of this programme is to encourage the emergence of new footwear, leather goods and services entrepreneurs, by providing them with support and advice.
Also, the association Toscana Promozione, in partnership with the Consortium Vera Pelle Italiana Conciata al Vegetale has selected 10 students from prestigious international fashion schools for the ‘Craft the leather‘ project. The group spent a week at San Miniato, in the heart of Italy’s leather region, working with tanners specialised in vegetable tanning. Each one went away with leathers from a partner tannery to be used to create an accessories collection. The winner of the competition will be chosen at the show by a jury of industry professionals, on September 18 in the VIP Club.
