PrimeAsia Leather Company announces the achievement of a Leather Working Group (LWG) gold rating for PrimeAsia’s China Tannery. PrimeAsia China also received the highest traceability rating, grade A.

Grade A traceability means that greater than 90% of hides bought by PrimeAsia China are physically marked and traceable to the slaughterhouse. PrimeAsia China purchases 93% of hides from LWG gold rated beamhouses. Gold and grade A traceability are the highest standings that can be awarded following an LWG environmental audit. The tannery is located in Dongguan, Guangdong Province.

PrimeAsia China’s 4th gold reaccreditation is due to PrimeAsia’s dedication and focus on saving energy, reducing water usage, and increasing environmental management. PrimeAsia China has had a gold LWG rating since 2008. The LWG environmental protocol continues to raise the requirements to attain gold status and thus, it is a major accomplishment to achieve a LWG gold standing. PrimeAsia China strives to uphold environmental goals and further advance global environmental stewardship.

The LWG auditing protocol is updated and advanced through the input of tanners, shoe brands, and chemical company members. PrimeAsia is a founding member of the LWG, which was founded in 2005 to promote sustainable practices within the leather industry.
