The Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation (BLF) has demanded fair wages for extra work by tannery workers. The demand was made in front of a human chain demonstration organised outside the National Press Club on October 7.
Speakers said that tannery workers that do extra work do not get fair wages. The BLF claim that production would be increase if the owners ensured workers rights. They also demanded that tannery owners provide proper training for workers to avoid accidents, provide a better working environment and better rehabilitation for the casualties following accidents. President of BLF Abdus Samad was present as well as Secretary General ZM Kamrul Anam, member Rani Khan. Tannery owners and workers were also present.
