High turnout expected for 18th UITIC Congress

The International Union of Shoe Industry Technicians (UITIC) are expecting a high turnout for the 18th international technical footwear congress with over 300 participants registered to attend the event from November 13-16, 2013 in Guangzhou, China. Almost a third of the participants are professionals and international experts.

The congress is a success in terms of numbers for the UITIC and the CLIA, the China Leather Industry Association responsible for organising the event.

The central theme of the 18th congress will be “Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), a challenge for the footwear industry”. Around thirty international footwear and CSR experts will present the latest innovations and progress in this field during five sessions: product innovation, innovation processes, working conditions and human resources, consumers and clients, and setting up social responsibility measures.

Present in 27 countries, the UITIC aims to develop technical knowledge in the footwear industry, in particular by organising international conferences and setting up information exchanges between its members. UITIC groups together national associations of footwear technicians, professional organisations and research centres. Since 2010, its President has been Yves Morin, CEO of CTC.
