China increase leather exports

The national leather industry in China completed total exports worth $60.2 billion from January to September 2013, which is an increased 8.6%, compared with the same period in 2012 according to figures released by the China Leather Industry Association. Exports include leather and leather products.

According to the CLIA figures total leather exports in January were valued at $8.4 billion and grew 39.3% compared with the same month in 2012.

Leather exports for subsequent months in 2013 were as follows:

  • February: $5.247 billion up 91.9%
  • March: $4.344 billion, down -12.4%.
  • April: $5.757 billion, up 2.0%
  • May: $6.732 billion, a decline of -2.2%
  • June $7.2 billion which is a fall of -1.15%
  • July $7.7 billion, an increase of 0.2%
  • August: $7.5 billion, an increase of 3.0%

Chinese leather exports for the month of September were $8.4 billion which is an increase of 6.0% compared with the same period in 2012.
