Glove and footwear leather tanners, Pittards based in Yeovil and Bridgwater College have recently formed a new partnership to recruit up to 30 apprentices throughout the company from September, giving many young people in the local area a route into employment.

Pittards will be recruiting for a range of roles covering areas including Business Administration, Engineering, Leather Goods and International Trade and Logistics. These apprenticeships will give people in the local area the skills and ability to progress with the company and develop in their chosen field.

Debbie Burton, Director of Marketing at Pittards said,

“Pittards’ business today is incredibly varied, encompassing not only leather making, but also product design and manufacture, sales and marketing. As a company it believes in investing in its own people and encouraging them to progress through the business. Pittards firmly believes that an apprenticeship with the chance to learn varied aspects of the business is a valuable first step in a potentially rewarding career in the leather industry.”

Matt Tudor, Head of Business Development at Bridgwater College said,

“We are extremely excited to be working with Pittards on this fantastic opportunity for the local people of Yeovil and Somerset. The range of opportunities on offer through this apprenticeship programme shows Pittards commitment to investing in skills for the future, and therefore providing their employees a potential pathway to a successful career at a long established, and renowned company.”

Pittards will be holding an Apprenticeship Open Event at their tannery and shop on in Yeovil on August 13.
