International Leather Maker (ILM) is pleased to announce that it will host another ILM Automotive Leather Supply Chain conference taking place for the first time this year in Europe.
Following the success of previous events, the next half-day conference will take place during the afternoon of Monday, October 17, 2016 at the famous Hotel Le Meurice, a Dorchester owned five-star hotel in the Rue du Rivoli in Paris, France.
The conference takes place the day after the Paris motor show ends and will feature key industry speakers from leading OEMs, leading auto leather tanners, suppliers and technical institutes related to the auto leather supply chain. There will also be a strong focus on the market in Europe. The hotel conference venue is centrally located making it easy for delegates to attend.
Strong automotive leather market
The European new car market has registered a 7.7% increase in units delivered, from 9.38 million in 2015 to 10.11 million between January and August 2016. In terms of segments, the SUVs lead the ranking with a 26% market share, and a 23% increase in delivered units compared to the previous year.
As the number of registrations grow, new launches are expected in many segments at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, a highlight of the automotive industry’s calendar. New entries at this edition include the new Audi Q5, which will compete with the popular Mercedes GLC and the Volvo XC60. Big focus at the show, the SUV category will count with significant launches such as the show-car BMW X2 and the new Land Rover Discovery. The premium traditional segment will be also updated with the launch of the new Porsche Panamera.
With a rise in sales of premium cars and a new generation of lifestyle SUV’s the global increase in the number of new vehicles that include leather is anticipated to increase by a further 100,00 from current levels. This could equate to an extra 300-500,000 hides entering the automotive leather segment in the next year alone. The lead sponsors of the conference are Stahl and TFL. JBS Couros are also sponsors and the event is in association with theSauerReport.
