On July 1, Huub van Beijeren will officially step down as CEO of global leather chemicals producer Stahl after almost 15 years and will hand over the reins to Maarten Heijbroek, who was announced as his successor earlier this year. In an exclusive interview, ILM Content Director, Martin Ricker caught up with Huub to look back at his time at Stahl and find out what he will be up to in the future.

In the full interview, which can be downloaded and viewed for free from the ILM App for users of Apple or Android devices, Huub van Beijeren talks about his personal and professional background before joining Stahl and then takes us on a journey from 2007 to the present day outlining how Stahl has been transformed since he joined the company. He talks about the acquisitions of the Leather Business Units of Clariant and BASF which have made Stahl the leading player in the leather chemicals industry today and talks frankly about navigating the business through the pandemic and the changes it has brought about over the past 16 months.

During the interview Huub provides a personal viewpoint on the global leather industry and its people during his time as CEO and how it will recover after the pandemic. He also outlines his passion for travelling and meeting people throughout the global leather industry around the world, something that he admits he will miss after retirement. Concluding, he tells us about life after July 1 and what he plans to do in his retirement.
