Although the exhibition has taken hits from ongoing Covid-19 travel restrictions in the form of lost visitors and exhibitors, particularly from Asia, Simac Tanning Tech is making Covid-19 safety at the show its main priority for those that can attend.

Assomac, organisers of Simac Tanning Tech, have told ILM that the upcoming fair, taking place September 22-24, will feature 119 exhibitors with most coming from Italy. However, there will also be exhibitors from Germany, France, Turkey, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Portugal, Bulgaria and Japan.

The exhibition will take place in Halls 14 and 18 of the Fiera Milano Rho showgrounds and will have a distinctly European flavour from exhibitors and visitors due to travel restrictions.

The Italian government has confirmed the containment and management measures for Covid-19 up to October 25, that entry into Italy for buyers / visitors coming from authorised (green/amber list) countries are allowed to enter for a period not exceeding 120 hours, for proven reasons of work, health or emergency, with the obligation, at the end of this time, to leave Italy immediately. The stay can be extended beyond 120 hours, but permission will be required in advance from the authorities in Italy.

To keep visitors safe during the fair, the organisers request that visitors prior to travelling to Italy understand what documentation is requested for entering into Italy, which is available in English. Visitors can use the app available from viaggiaresicuri.it. Further information can be easily found on the Italian Ministry of Health’s official website.

“The rules are clear, and they facilitate the entrance into Italy. As like the exhibitions in Milan that are taking place before us, we would like to persuade anyone currently undecided about participating to visit the fair,” says Roberto Vago, General Director of Assomac and Head of Secretariat of Simac Tanning Tech.

"I invite Simac Tanning Tech exhibitors to act as sounding boards and send information to their customers. We are using the media and associations in other countries and the offices of the ITA Agency to disseminate the correct information.”

Exhibitors of the scaled-back fair this year include many of the world’s leading manufacturers of tannery, leather goods and footwear machinery. There will also be exhibitors showcasing leather chemicals and components. Simac Tanning Tech 2021 will take place alongside Lineapelle and take place just after the Micam footwear fair which takes place September 19-21 at the same venue.

The show has made moves to eliminate the use of paper and unnecessary contact by developing an exhibition app, which will store ticket information, a map of the show, exhibitor details and more.
