Mazda releases full year financial results

Japan-based Mazda Motor Corporation has announced its financial results for the full year ended March 31, 2022.

The company achieved global sales of 1,251,000 vehicles across the year, down 2.8% year-on-year. In Europe, sales were up 7.2% at 163,000 units, while sales also increased in the North America market by 9% to 439,000 units. Another key market for the company, Australia, saw sales increase by 11.7% to 103,000 units.

However, results in the company’s home market of Japan were just 149,000, a drop of 16% year-on-year. Mazda’s biggest market in Asia, China, also saw a significant drop of 26% to 170,000 units for the year.

For the full year, Mazda achieved net sales of ¥3.12 trillion (US$24.12 billion), with an operating profit of ¥104.2 billion (US$805.46 million) and net income of ¥81.6 billion (US$630.76 million).

The company announced a plan in October 2021 to introduce five new models into the global market for the Mazda CX-50, Mazda CX-60, Mazda CX-70, Mazda CX-80 and Mazda CX-90. Production of the CX-50 began in the company’s new U.S. plant in January 2022 and production of the CX-60 began in March.
