Brazilian leather exports grew 5.1% in October

Brazilian exports of hides and skins (wet-blue, crust and finished) reached a total value of US$249 million in October, according to figures from the Department of Foreign Trade – Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC). 

Based on this information, the Department of Intelligence at the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) calculates an increase of 5.1% compared with the same month last year.
The accumulative value from January to October 2014 is of US$2.49 billion, resulting in a growth of 21% against the same period in 2013. The leather industry represents 1.3% of Brazil’s entire export earnings.
