French luxury house Ungaro is expanding into the leather handbag sector with Italian manufacturer La Compagnia delle Pelli.

The manufacturer currently produces leather goods for other brands including Bikkembergs and will be responsible for the production and distribution of Ungaro’s new leather handbag and clutch collection.

Following the relaunch of Ungaro’s women’s ready-to-wear and fragrance lines in 2021, this new collection will begin in the Spring/Summer 2023 season.

Ungaro General Manager Marie Fournier said: "It's a diffusion line that draws on the DNA of the house with a collection of leather bags, retailing between €350 and €450, and a range of PVC and nylon bags with leather trimmings between €250 and €350.”

The collection will consist of around 70 leather goods, recently unveiled during Paris Fashion Week, featuring smooth and embossed leathers with the house’s “Diva” pleat.
