Luxury automotive manufacturer Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has announced its financial results for 2022, achieving the highest annual sales in its history.

The company delivered a total of 6,021 units in 2022, up 8% year-on-year, to customers in 50 countries around the world, marking the first time in the business’ history that sales have exceeded 6,000 in a year.

Rolls-Royce noted that beyond this sales record, it also achieved record bespoke commissions, resulting in clients being willing to pay an average of around half a million Euros for a unique Rolls-Royce car.

The company reported the Middle East as its leading region for bespoke commissions, opening an invitation-only Private office in Dubai in 2022, with plans to introduce more around the world in 2023 and beyond.

The Americas remains the largest single region for Rolls-Royce, with significant growth in 2022, with almost all markets achieving higher sales than the previous year. Meanwhile, the brand highlighted Greater China as its second-largest sales region and one of vital strategic importance despite a single-digit sales drop in 2022 due to ongoing macroeconomic issues.

Similarly, despite serious geopolitical challenges in Europe, this region managed to grow in 2022 with record sales in markets including the UK and Germany, while the Asia-Pacific region also achieved record sales. The company noted that, in Japan, a new class of successful entrepreneurs is increasingly investing in Rolls-Royce, while growth in South Korea shows potential for it to become the brand’s leading market in the region in the near future.

The Cullinan was Rolls-Royce’s best-selling model of 2022, while Ghost was its most in-demand model in the Asia-Pacific region. Launched in 2022, the company also celebrating its upcoming electric super coupé, Spectre, which will begin delivering to clients in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said: “As we mark the 20th anniversary of the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood, these results confirm Rolls‑Royce Motor Cars as a great British success story.

“Our business is built on extremely strong foundations, and we have secured advance orders stretching far into 2023. And while we are not immune to global challenges and economic headwinds, thanks to our balanced worldwide sales strategy, we are cautiously optimistic that 2023 will be a strong year for Rolls‑Royce.”
