Bentley Motors has reported its sales results for 2022, achieving a record delivery to customers of 15,174 cars.

This is a 4% increase on the company’s result in 2021, which was a record result at 14,659 units, and the first time it has broken 15,000 deliveries in a year.

Bentley attributed this achievement to new model introductions and increasing demand for Mulliner personalisation and its new hybridised models.

Continued SUV demand meant that the Bentayga was the company’s top model for 2022, accounting for 42% of total sales. Meanwhile, the Continental GT and GT Convertible accounted for 30% of sales while the GT Speed made up 31%.

The Americas was Bentley’s biggest selling global market, breaking records in 2022 with 28% of total sales at 4,221 units, up around 1%. In the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macau, Bentley sold 3,655 units, down 9% and comprising 24% of total sales.

In Europe, the company sold 2,809 cars, up 11% and making up 19% of the total, while in the Asia Pacific, sales were up by 23% to 2,031 units and 13% of the total. In the company’s home market of the United Kingdom, sales were 1,490 units, up 12% and 10% of total sales.

Finally, the smallest market for Bentley is the Middle East, Africa and India, where sales were up 6% to 968 units, and comprised 6% of total sales. At the end of 2022, the manufacturer had 241 retailers in 65 countries.

Adrian Hallmark, Chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors, said: “In what was another year of unpredictability, the business overcame significant headwinds and demonstrated great resilience to deliver the third consecutive record sales year. This underlines our brand strength, operational excellence and strong global demand by market and model.

“The reaction to the market introduction of our hybrid models, Flying Spur joining the Bentayga last year, demonstrate the path the luxury sector is heading, and we are positioned firmly at the forefront. These numbers are validation that we not only lead the sector in sales and market share, but also investment in electric technologies and commitment to being net carbon neutral in 2030.”
