Hong Kong

Sustainability in the leather supply chain conference 2015 is a half day (afternoon) event, organised by BLC Leather Technology Centre Ltd in conjunction with APLF Ltd, will take place on Tuesday March 31, 2015 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The future supply of leather is dependent on a sustainable value chain. The production of a sustainable material relies on a respect for natural resource depletion and a focus on critical areas where improvements can contribute positively to the sustainability profile of the product.

These focus areas are topics that are increasingly important to brands when making sourcing decisions. The annual ‘Leather and the Environment’ conference will offer topical debate and discussion around critical aspects of the sustainability discussion including responsible raw material sourcing, preferred chemistry and new technologies, product life cycle and the rise in NGO activity.

A key element to the conference will be a discussion around sustainable tanning technologies including chromium, wet-white, vegetable and alternative tannages.

Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to hear contributions from leading brands, manufacturers and retailers on:

  • Responsible raw material sourcing strategies: Understanding the risks
  • Nanotechnology: A viable alternative to high performance chemistry?
  • Green leather production
  • Sustainable chemical management through manufacturing restricted substance lists
  • The rise of the NGO
  • The cost of environmental compliance

The conference is sponsored by Lanxess, Stahl International and International Leather Maker (ILM) as media sponsors.
