Drop in Brazilian leather exports

Brazilian leather exports are down for the first half of 2015.

According to the Secretary of International Commerce of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Commerce (MDIC), leather exports in June 2015 decreased 20.3% from around US$246million to US$196 million compared to same month last year. May was also slow with a 4.7% drop.

The Brazilian Centre for the Leather Industry (CICB) reports a 15.2% decline for the first semester of 2015 compared to the same period last year.

Leather and hides accounted for 1.3% of total exports from Brazil.
