The University of Northampton’s Institute of Creative Leather Technology (ICLT), which celebrated its 10th anniversary in mid-August, has appointed an experienced tanner to its teaching staff.

David Sherwood, an experienced leather maker with almost 40 years of commercial knowledge gained through his work at UK based suede tanners, C F Stead & Co., has joined the staff of the Institute of Creative Leather Technology. He replaces Paul Evans who officially retires on August 31, after 9 years at the ICLT, formally the British School of Leather Technology.

Evans has been an asset to the institute with his exceptional knowledge, enthusiasm and dedication. Despite “retiring”, he has agreed to continue contributing to both training and consultancy where required.

The ICLT appointed Sherwood in the hope that his knowledge and experience in tanning will be a great contribution to the world-class teaching and research at the institute, “with ultimate enrichment of the student experience”.
