The German automotive manufacturer finishes the third quarter of 2015 with new sales records. It has delivered more vehicles in September than ever before in the company’s history.
Mercedez-Benz has delivered 188,444 vehicles worldwide in September, registering record sales. This is an increase of 15.8% over their previous highest ever month.
A total of 477,999 vehicles was sold from July to September 2015; the strongest quarter in the company’s history so far (+16.1%). Since the beginning of the year, 1,376,424 units were sold, surpassing the prior-year figure by 15.2%.
SUVs sales were key to the current trends. “More than 50,000 SUVs were sold in September, a growth of over 36% being evidence of the popularity of our products in this segment. The GLC and the GLE both started with record unit sales after their market launch in September,” stated Ola Källenius, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing & Sales.
In Europe, 593,716 vehicles with the three-pointed star were sold in the first nine months, up 11.1%, more than ever before. Mercedes-Benz continues to be a leader in the premium market in countries such as Germany, Italy and Portugal. Double digit record sales have been registered in Great Britain, Belgium, Portugal and Switzerland.
Sales were up 6.8% in the NAFTA region for September alone, and an increase of 8.6% has been registered since the beginning of the year.
Double digit growth in unit sales has also been registered in the Asia-Pacific region, up 32.7% in September, a record of 62,723 vehicles being sold. Sales in China grew Sales 53.2% in September alone.
