Exports of hides and skins submitted by SECEX (Foreign Trade Secretariat), for November 2013, showed an increase compared to the same month last year, but a decrease compared to October of this year, which had a record monthly total of US$236.9 million by value.
The month of November showed a total of US$215.4 million, an increase of 22.5% compared to November 2012, whose value was US$175.8 million, and down 9.1% compared to October this year.
Regarding hide volumes and considering only bovine, in November 2.91 million units were exported, an increase of 13.4% compared to November 2012 (2.56 million).
The main destinations for Brazilian leather between January and November 2013 were: China/Hong Kong with 36.2%, Italy 20.8%, and the United States with 10% (by value).
Among the major exporting states, Rio Grande do Sul returned to the first position with 20.2% followed by São Paulo with 20.1%. This was followed by Goiás with 12.5%, 11.4% from Paraná, Ceará with 7.8% and Mato Grosso do Sul, with 6.4%.
