Exports of Brazilian footwear components up 34%

Exports in the Brazilian footwear components sector have showed yet another positive growth in September 2016, with total exports for the first nine months of the year up 34% against 2015.

According to the Footwear Components by Brasil project, between January and September 2016, the sector exported to 77 different countries, representing US$204.8 million in value against US$154.6 million in the same period the prior year (+34%).

In September, a total of US$18.6 million worth of goods were exported, a figure that follows the average trend of previous years.

Main destinations in the period include China, Argentina, India, Germany, Mexico and the U.S.

Led by Assintecal, the Brazilian Association of Components for Leather, Footwear and Manufactured Goods makers, the Footwear Components by Brasil project comprises of about 150 member companies and aims to improve the performance of the sector by offering services such as trade promotion, intelligence, and training.
