Stahl opens Centre of Excellence in Barcelona

Around 285 people attended Stahl’s Centre of Excellence Opening in Parets del Valles, Spain on  June 1. At the new facility, Stahl showcased to its customers the latest chemical innovations, technology and vision for the future of leather across the fashion, interior design, sports goods & apparel segments and much more. 

The new Center of Excellence in Parets del Vallès in Spain together with customers, OEMs, brands from the Apparel & Home Furnishing industry and other partners. The center focuses on performance coatings solutions, leather chemicals, as well as polymer technologies. “Our new Center of Excellence is the place where our experts can work side-by-side with partners to share knowledge and showcase our latest future-proof solutions, innovations and technologies,” Vasco da Silva, Local Manager Spain, explains.

The theme of the event was ‘Future Forward’ and started with an introduction from Stahl’s CEO, Huub van Beijeren, who said consumers now look at the world differently and expressed the importance of chemicals being produced in an honest and reliable way.

Presentations followed by Spanish retail giant Inditex and Bluesign both covering the hot industry topic of traceability and the need for greater transparency in chemical ingredients and the supply chain. Joan Marine Alcarria, Sustainability and Quality Control Manager for Stradivarius (part of the Inditex Group which also owns Massimo Dutti and Zara among others said; “Sustainability forms the basis of all our decisions”. Guests were then taken to Stahl’s Centre of Excellence in Parets de Valles on the outskits of Barcelona for the official opening and tour.

The day concluded with a drinks reception and dinner at the impressive Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya in Barcelona.
