Smit & zoon opens Brazilian laboratory

Dutch leather chemical manufacturer, Smit & zoon has officially opened a Leather Application Laboratory in Novo Hamburgo, state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. This expansion supports the company’s growth strategy in the Brazilian market to supply products and services to tanneries in the country.

“The opening of our Novo Hamburgo lab shows our long-term commitment to the Brazilian leather industry,” said Hans van Haarst, CEO, Smit & zoon. “We find it important that this lab will bring our products and knowledge closer to the Brazilian market, allowing us to act rapidly to the needs of local customers.”

According to Michael Breitsamer, Smit & zoon’s Sales Manager responsible for the South American market, the Company already has a strong technical team in Brazil and it will now be able to serve Brazilian tanneries “even better and faster with their application trials”, as well as to develop special application recipes for the optimised use of the manufacturers’ products on Brazilian raw material.
