French luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton has launched an e-commerce service in China to profit from the country’s booming online shopping market, so far dominated by local operators such as Alibaba.
A range of Louis Vuitton’s leather goods, shoes, accessories, watches, jewellery, luggage and perfume are offered on the platform aimed at Chinese customers. The website went live on July 20 and is said to cover 12 cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shenyang, Dalian, Ha’erbin and Wuhan), with others to be added later.
Since the opening of its first e-commerce platform in France in 2005, Louis Vuitton has expanded the service to 11 countries, including China.
