Turkey introduces export taxes on wet-blue

On August 16, the Turkish government signed-off a new law introducing a tax on the export of wet-blue hides and skins from the country. After lobbying by the country’s domestic footwear and tanning industries, the new tax is designed to encourage tanners to add value to local raw materials.
