Volkswagen Group delivered a total of 820,000 vehicles in August 2017, up +8%, and says the scrappage scheme generated interest among customers who decided to switch to an up-to-date model.
In Europe, the Group delivered 270,900 vehicles (+2.5%) and an upward trend was observed in the Central and Eastern Europe region, which recorded growth of 13.4% with 55,400 deliveries. Group deliveries are said to have grown strongly particularly strongly in Russia (+13.2%) and Poland. In Western Europe, the market is said to have held its prior-year level with deliveries of 215,500 vehicles.
North American deliveries increased 5.1% in August, while the recovery in passenger car markets in the South America region continued, up +57.7%, mainly driven by Brazil with 29,700 deliveries (+76.4%) and Argentina. Since the beginning of the year, Group deliveries in the region have risen by 17.3%. Deliveries in the Asia-Pacific region were reported to be 9.3% higher than in August 2016, at 379,200 vehicles. The main impetus for this positive trend came from China, with 353,500 deliveries (+9.2 %).
Overall, worldwide deliveries of the Audi brand were up 5% in August compared with the same month in 2016, to 138,900 units, while Porsche’s deliveries remained unchanged at 19,100 vehicles.
