Frank Michel, Executive Director, ZDHC Foundation, will be speaking about the implementation to better manage upstream chemical inputs in the footwear and apparel supply chains at the forthcoming Leather & Sustainability in Retail Conference 2017 taking place in London on November 16.
Michel will discuss the latest developments of the ZDHC programme in the context of the leather value chain, including the MRSL conformance guidelines for the testing and verification of chemicals, audit protocols for suppliers and wastewater guidelines for leather.
The ZDHC Programme includes a collaboration of 22 signatory brands, 24 value chain affiliates, and 10 associates who work collaboratively to support the implementation of safer chemical management practices in the textile and footwear value chains thereby protecting consumers, workers and the environment. It covers four key areas; Manufacturing Restricted Substance Lists (MRSL), wastewater guidelines, audit Protocol and research. Data disclosure and training are cross-cutting areas that work across the four main work streams.
