Small fire at Basmar tannery

Published:  14 February, 2014

A small fire has broken out at the Basmar tannery located in Trissino near Arzignano in northern Italy. The fire happened during the early evening of February 12 and is believed to have started in one of the tannery’s finishing lines used for varnishing.

Basmar, part of the Rino Mastrotto Group, is the company headquarters where they manufacture calf and cow leathers for footwear and leather goods.

Local media reports say that the tannery’s fire protection system was activated by the fire, which prevented more serious damage occurring. The local fire department also quickly extinguished the fire. Nobody has been reported as being injured in the incident.
