Stray cows increasingly a nuisance in India

Considered as a sacred animal, the problem of stray cows in India is not new but local reports warn of the alarming proportions reached since the country’s Centre government notified the new rules to regulate livestock markets under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
