Canadian cattle herd continues to decline

A recent report indicates that Canadian cattle numbers continued to decline in 2017, mostly due to producer attrition and higher slaughter, and despite a projected expansion, hitting a 28-year low. A further 1% decline is expected for 2018, following four straight years of decline in cattle inventory.
