A fire broke out at the Karim Leather factory in Hazaribagh, Dhaka on February 14. Fire Service sources said the fire originated in Karim Leather & Washing Plant around 2:35pm. Firefighters brought the flames under control in the factory, which is made of corrugated iron sheets and bamboo fences.

Shahjadi Sultana, an official at the fire service and civil defence control room, said seven firefighting units rushed to the scene and brought the flames under control after nearly two hours. An electrical short-circuit is believed to have caused the fire at the factory and it is believed to have started in the dyeing department.
