New car sales in Brazil up +19.2%

New passenger car sales in Brazil increased +19.2% in the first two months of 2018, compared with the same period in the prior year, totalling 278,600 units.

The General Motors brand led the national sales ranking in the period with 18.81% market share, followed by Volkswagen (13.9%), Hyundai (10.72%), Ford (9.91%) and Renault (8.15%). "The performance of the first two months of the year is in line with expectations," said Alarico Assumpção Júnior, President, National Federation of Automotive Vehicles Distribution (Fenabrave).

Premium brand Mercedes-Benz ranked 16th, with BMW, Audi and Land Rover following closely in that order.
